Clinical Fellow in Peritoneal Surgery (HIPEC) at The Mater Hospital

Applications are invited for a Clinical Fellow in Peritoneal Surgery (HIPEC) for one year starting July 2019. 

The post offers experience of working in a tertiary referral hospital which also offers national services in Peritoneal malignancy surgery and Advanced pelvic malignancy surgery. The post provides exposure to specialist multi-disciplinary surgery including colorectal, urological, gynaecological and plastic surgery.

This fellowship is aimed at individuals at the end of their specialised colorectal training. Successful applicants will join a national centre for Peritoneal Malignancy and a centre of excellence for colon and rectal cancer, providing laparoscopic and robotic colorectal training.

The post holder will take part in the day to day running of the firm as well as participating in the on call rota at Specialist Registrar level.

As a fellow you will have the opportunity to apply research outcomes to clinical problems and teach clinical skills to medical and nursing staff, as well as offer expert clinical opinion on a range of emergency & elective problems. 

Fellows will also have the opportunity to take part in research and audits, and are expected to prepare abstracts and papers for national and international meetings and journals.

Posts are available on one-year fixed term contracts, however the unit will consider shorter contracts if required.
